Olching

Situated to the northwest of Munich, the course at Golfclub Olching was only thirty-three years old when it underwent an extensive renovation in 2012/13, with three water hazards enlarged, eighteen greens redesigned and all the bunkers renewed.

Himmel Golf Design carried out the work, which also lengthened the layout by almost 350 metres with half a dozen holes now ranging from 410 to 445 metres. To assist the average golfer – and with lady amateurs in mainly in mind – the course was shortened by around 300 meters, creating a healthy mix of challenge and fun.

Stretching to 6,527 metres from the back markers, the course plays to a par of 72, with holes arranged as two returning nines. And because it lies in the flood plain of the Amper river, the layout features eight small lakes which directly affect more than half the holes on the scorecard.

Highlight holes include the (left doglegging) long par four 5th and the tough par four 8th (with out of bounds left of the fairway). On the back nine, the longest of the par threes at the 218-metre 16th is followed by the very long par five 17th, with the fairway routed past a lake on the left and the green perched in front of another small pond.
