Old Edwards Club is a mountain golf course situated in Highlands, North Carolina, set within the Blue Ridge Mountains. The course was designed by Tom Jackson and features 18 holes that traverse a dramatic and varied mountain landscape, moving from valley floors to an elevated ridgeline reaching approximately 4,000 feet above sea level.
The layout is characterized by significant changes in elevation, with several holes offering substantial drops from tee to green, most notably the 11th hole, which descends over 180 feet and is regarded as the course's signature hole. A stretch of five consecutive par 4s on the back nine, known as Shortoff Alley, runs alongside views of Shortoff Mountain and represents the most demanding sequence on the course. Water hazards, including a pond on the 6th and 14th holes, and a cross-hazard creek on the 16th, add strategic complexity throughout the round.
The course received recognition from Golf Digest as one of the Best Golf Courses in America. Beyond the golf itself, the club offers supporting amenities including a driving range, short-game area, putting green, golf shop, fitness center, clay tennis courts, and a seasonal heated mineral pool. The Grill Room restaurant provides dining with panoramic views of the course and surrounding mountains.
