Old Kinderhook

Old Kinderhook is both the name of a planned community and the golf course that serves as its centrepiece, surrounding the Lake of The Ozarks in the southwest Missouri. Tom Weiskopf — working solo — created the design, which balances both his belief in bold hazards and a comfortable, resort-caliber yardage of 6,700 from the tips.

Perched up in the hills above the body of water, players will be able to cast their eyes out across the scenic region when looking down from tee boxes at holes such as the par three No. 11. Those more familiar with Weiskopf’s work will inevitably be looking for his guaranteed drivable par four. It comes at No. 6, and allows a comfortable layup followed by a comfortable pitch for a birdie opportunity. Of course, most players are on vacation at this point, so they can attempt a power draw, threading the woods and the greenside-right bunkers, to catch a kick down onto the green of this 344-yard hole.
