Old Waverly is a golf course seemingly in the middle of nowhere Mississippi. There isn't a lot of fanfare or hype around the course, but as soon as you reach the entry gate, you are hit with a large sense of understated southern class.

Everything about Old Waverly keeps the sense of understated southern class. The pro-shop, club house, practice facilities, course, staff and members all feel to fit perfectly in place. The course is a great mix of holes carved out of mature woods, or routed around the lakes on property and the consistent themes around Old Waverly are risk reward and don't be above the hole.

The risk reward nature of the course leaves you with a lot of memorable golf holes, and my favorite was the closing stretch of 15-16-17-18. 15 and 16 are a beautiful par 5 and 4 among the woods and then driving to 17 green you open back up to Lake Waverly where you play the par 3 17 over the lake and then the par 4 18 with the lake all the way up the left with a beautiful green that is framed by the classy clubhouse.

We played Old Waverly in early December 2020 and the conditions were fantastic, the course was firm and the greens were the fastest that I have ever putted on.
