Omberg

Situated beside the peaceful waters of Lake Vättern, Sweden’s second largest lake, the course at Omberg Golf was designed by Pierre Fulke, with assistance from Begt Lorichs. Part of the site occupied by the 18-hole layout was once used for military purposes whilst another part lies within a nature reserve.

The club first opened its door to golfers in 2002, with the course quickly establishing itself as one of the best parkland tracks in the country. The signature hole on the course is the long par five 14th, at the southernmost point of the property, where a small offset green in front of the lake is protected by a pond to the left and a couple of bunkers to the right.

Erik originally nominated Ombergs Golf as a GEM in December 2008 and it later became a ranked Swedish course. Erik’s original comments follow:

“Omberg is a great course created by the former professional Pierre Fulke. It lies side by side to Vättern, the second largest lake in Sweden, which gives the player a fantastic view. The cold wind from the lake is also definitely one of the toughest challenges on the course. Omberg is always in perfect condition and will provide you with the best of Swedish nature.”
