First opened for play in 1993, the Orchard Valley golf course is a Ken Kavanaugh design where more than half of the fairways are routed around water hazards.
Orchard Valley is a really fun, playable course that is extremely affordable for anyone in the western suburbs. Its relatively short, only 6200 or so from all the way back, but provides a lot of great half par holes, such as one, five, six, eleven, and fifteen. There are a few holes where massive waste bunkers come into play and each green is significantly undulating. Its a rarely talked about course in the Chicago public golf scene, but I highly recommend it. Especially considering the price, its one of the best public courses in the area.
