Orust Golfklubb’s original 9-hole layout was launched in 1985, with another nine holes added two years later. Incredibly, the construction costs were less than 600,000 Krona when the normal price for a new course around that time was 4-7 million Krona.

Today, the course measures just over 5,700 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, with holes laid out as two returning nines. Water comes into play from time to time, mostly in the form of small ponds close to the green, as at the par three 5th, 7th and 15th.
Highlight holes include the long par four 2nd (played to a peninsula green with a small lake surrounding the putting surface on three sides); the right doglegging par five 8th (rated stroke index 1); and the 330-metre closing hole which plays to a sand-protected offset home green.
