Oxbow, North Dakota- Address40 Clubhouse Dr, Oxbow, ND 58047, USA
Laid out on the west bank of the meandering Red River that separates North Dakota from Minnesota, Oxbow Country Club’s course is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. layout from 1974 that extends to more than 7,400 yards from the back championship tees.
A 5-year renovation program was completed in 2019 to mitigate flooding issues that often occurred in springtime when the adjacent river would overflow onto the surrounding area. The first phase of the project involved building a levee which bisected the course, causing the relocation of the clubhouse and half the holes on the course.
The land for the new holes was acquired from farmland to the south of the property and, in the words of Bruce Charlton from RTJII, reconfiguring the layout was “a little like a jigsaw puzzle, but it was fun to figure out, tying existing holes with the new ones and giving them the same characteristics.”
