Padova (Blu & Giallo)
Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty within the Euganean Hills Regional Park in the small municipality of Galzignano Terme, the original 18-hole course at Golf Club Padova (comprising the Blu and Giallo nines) was fashioned by Commander John Harris in the early 1960s for Golf Club Euganeo.
The club became Golf Club Padova in 1974 then, twenty-five years later, when more land became available for purchase at the end of the 1990s, an additional Rosso nine was added by architect Marco Croze. These newer holes are laid out on more open terrain to the east of the property, where several water hazards also come into play.
The tree-lined fairways of the Blu and Giallo nines are set out on relatively flat landscape, with only moderate changes in elevation to add interest. A few holes are narrow off the tee, a situation that will only intensify as trees mature over time. Water comes into play on the Blu circuit, which has several ponds and ditches to contend with, but it’s never too intrusive.
