The following couple of edited paragraphs are from the book Golf in India: The ultimate golfing guide by Phil Ryan and Paul Reeves:

“This beautiful valley is 96kms from Srinagar to the east but can take up to two hours by road depending on the traffic. However (it’s) well worth the drive as you climb to find yourself in a pine forested valley at the junction of two rivers (Liddler & Sheshnag) with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. During July-August pilgrims make the trek from Pahalgam to the cave at Amarnath (it takes a few days) which is revered by Hindus.

The walk to the golf course however is much shorter with it being near the middle of town and set in a wonderful pine forest. It has been renovated and extended in 2009 and is now 18 holes, par 71 and 7100 yards. There are a couple of caddies and one chap has been at the course for the past 40 years so should know his way around.”

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
