Palmer Colonial
Designed by Mitsuaki Kobayashi in the early 1990s for Nara Australia Pty Ltd, the 18-hole layout at Palmer Colonial originally opened as Paradise Springs Golf Course.
Businessman Clive Palmer now owns the resort, along with three other similar operations at Palmer Gold Coast, Palmer Coolum and Palmer Sea Reef.
Situated less than two kilometres from the Palmer Gold Coast facility, the Colonial layout occupies a 96-acre site that was once nothing other than a dairy farm.
More than half the holes are affected by water either off the tee or around the green as many of the fairways are routed around several lily-adorned lakes.
Highlight holes include the 390-metre 5th (rated stroke index 1) and the 204-metre 12th (the longest par three on the course), both of which encounter water between tee and green.
