Had plans to play all the Aberdeenshire links courses but visitors were turned away from Royal Aberdeen and Silverburn courses thus had a day to kill. Missed out on Panmure last year in my Angus Links trip so went down for a hit in July 2015. A stock standard opening couple of holes but then get in behind the trees and a rugged little masterpiece opens up. Adjoins Monifieth which was a real surprise packet for me last year and Panmure was equally impressive. Greens were fantastic and the land, whilst not surrounded by massive dunes, had great undulations and just enough height on the small mounding to look fantastic from atop the course at about the 7th tee I think. No sign of the ocean and not really a course full of photo opportunities but a unique atmosphere is created by this crisp, gruff brilliant course.
