A lovely golf course, and a very warm welcome.
Had a most enjoyable round here, with a most warm of welcomes from the everyone in the wonderful clubhouse that I was told was modeled on the Royal Calcutta Golf Club. A lovely building with lots of history. We even brough Jacket & Tie so we could enjoy a late lunch in the Dalhousie Room after our round.
The practise facilities are also more than adequate for a warm up before the round. You even get a beautiful metal bag tag and a Kummel voucher that you can savour as you collect the lovely photograph they take of you before you go out. I cannot think of a better welcome I have ever had at a golf club.
The course itself is great. Not particularly "linksy" and feels more heathland in places. No views of the sea, which isnt far away, and the stand out hole is the 6th with all its history of Ben Hogan.
I would certainly look forward to a repeat visit to Panmure if I was ever in the area.
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
