An early start following a night of rain and blustering winds almost resulted in a cancellation. Thank goodness I showed up! The winds dropped and the few scuds of rain only served to enhance this great experience. A large group of members courteously invited me to tee off before them, leaving me to enjoy the deserted links amid overcast skies. Although occasionally confused by the layout, I was able to find my way without too many misplaced shots. The conditioning was first class and the unfamiliar challenge of a genuine links course a thrill. Like a previous poster, I was undone by a tricky landing on the 5th green but surprised by a (rare) birdy on the 16th; such wonderfully fun holes. Stayed across the road from the clubhouse with a member whose hospitality was faultless. Thank you for providing such a memorable morning, Paraparaumu Beach.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
