Wayfind Pennant Park Golf delivers a varied parkland layout set across 110 acres of Flintshire countryside, with the back nine offering elevated vistas across the Dee estuary towards the Wirral Peninsula. The course operates year-round and welcomes societies and visiting golfers seven days a week.
Pennant Park Golf opened in 1998 to a design by R.D. Jones, occupying land near the village of Whitford between Holywell and the north Flintshire coastline. The course was developed as part of a wider leisure and holiday park estate, and its 18-hole layout has remained largely intact since opening.
Under new ownership in recent years, the club has undergone significant reinvestment. Drainage infrastructure was upgraded, the clubhouse was refurbished and rebranded as the Salt + Earth Bistro & Bar, and on-site lodge accommodation was added to support golf break packages. The course continues to operate as a public pay-and-play facility open to individuals, members and societies.
Pennant Park Golf measures just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, playing to a par of 70 across an undulating parkland site with several steep elevation changes, particularly on the back nine. The routing crosses 110 acres of Flintshire countryside and incorporates water hazards on multiple holes.
The front nine plays across more open ground, with water coming into play at the 5th hole — a long par 4 defended by a large bunker left and a grove of trees right, with a Mackenzie-style green featuring pronounced back-to-front contours. The par 3 6th presents a sandstone bridge over a water feature between the tee and green.
The back nine climbs to the highest point of the course at the 12th tee, where views extend across North Wales and the Wirral Peninsula. The 13th plays as a par 3 overlooking the Dee estuary. The 14th, a downhill par 4, is the course's signature hole, with bunkers flanking a green set at the base of the slope.
Wayfind Pennant Park Golf is a publicly accessible parkland layout in Flintshire that combines genuine topographical variety with estuary views uncommon at this price point in North Wales. Recent investment in drainage, the clubhouse and on-site lodges has strengthened the course's offer as a golf break destination, with Holywell Golf Club and Prestatyn Golf Club both within easy reach for multi-course itineraries.
