Let me say that I really enjoyed Perranporth but I’ve never seen so many marker posts on any other course I’ve ever played. This is an uncompromisingly natural and traditional links course where I doubt anything has changed at all since since James Braid pegged it out all those years ago. Bring a sense of humour and a strong pair of legs as the going is tough as you traverse the hilly duneland. Thankfully the course is lightly bunkered, as frankly it doesn’t need too many sand traps as the sloping lies make shot making hard enough. Thank goodness they keep the rough under control otherwise you’d need a bag full of balls as the contours kick the ball this way and that. This is an exciting course assuming you can keep your ball in play. If ever a forecaddie was needed it’s here at Perranporth. Did I mention the views? Wow they are simply jaw dropping. You’ll enjoy a drink after the round here… you’ll need it.
