Pinehurst No 9 is a solid but not spectacular Jack Nicklaus design.
Pinehurst No. 9, designed by Jack Nicklaus and originally opened as National Golf Club in 1988, offers a good but not great golf experience, typical of many Nicklaus designs. While it has strong strategic elements and a well-maintained layout, it lacks the distinctive charm and shot-making intrigue that make Pinehurst’s best courses truly special.

Pinehurst No. 9 is a solid, well-maintained, and enjoyable golf course, but it doesn’t quite reach the level of Pinehurst’s best layouts. If you’re in Pinehurst and looking for a Nicklaus-style challenge, it’s worth playing, but if you’re looking for the best that Pinehurst has to offer, you might be better off sticking with No. 2, No. 4, or No. 10.
