Pinetree Country Club is a private parkland course located in Kennesaw, Georgia, situated among the rolling hills and towering pines of Cobb County. The course was originally opened in October 1960 under the name the O.B. Keeler Memorial Golf Course, with its grand opening marked by an exhibition match featuring Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead. In 1962, following a change of ownership, the club was renamed Pinetree Country Club. The original 18-hole layout was designed by architect Chick Adams and opened in its championship form in 1962.
In 2007, the membership commissioned architect Bill Bergin to undertake a comprehensive renovation of the course. Construction began mid-2007 and the course reopened in October 2008. Bergin's aim was to preserve the character of Adams' original design while improving playability and course conditions. The resulting layout measures 7,108 yards from the championship tees and plays to a par of 72, routing through rolling terrain framed by Georgia pines, native hardwoods, flowering shrubs, and water features.
The course has a notable history of hosting significant amateur and professional events, including the Georgia State Amateur Championship on four occasions (1976, 1985, 2003, and 2013), the Georgia Open, and the Atlanta Amateur. The club has an early association with Hall of Fame professional Larry Nelson, a Kennesaw native who worked as a golf assistant at Pinetree before winning the U.S. Open and two PGA Championships. Four members of the club have been inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.
