Porthmadog Golf Club

On our trip out to the coast we played Nefyn on the first day and PortMadog on the second.

The course is a must-visit for fans of links golf, but don't sleep on the front 9 as there are gems to be found there too.

Maybe controversially I enjoyed some of the parkland holes and appreciate the architectural features, and would not disregard them at will.

I would not go out of my way to play here.

I have read the mixed reviews on Porthmadog and was hugely surprised by the quality on offer.

I played for the first time in early August and was disappointed.

I loved Porthmadog.

The drive into Porthmadog from the North, down the A487 from Caernarfon, is an amazing and beautiful journey.

The front nine is unremarkable - nothing wrong with it but nothing to rave about either - other than it gets you to the 10th tee, where the whole feel and landscape changes into 9 holes of stunning links golf.
