If it were not for the hardwood trees, particular the beautiful Cottonwoods, one could easliy imagine that one of the great links courses of the UK or Ireland had been lifted and dropped in Hutchison, KS. This is a truly great American course. We found the condition top notch and the service friendly and efficient (although each of our two groups found the fore caddies somewhat lacking in energy). Each hole is different, and I don't think there is a bad hole on the course. Without going through all of them, the beginning lets you know you're in for a tough but wonderful day. The first, a dog leg left to a difficult green, is a bear. The second, a par three, with the green huddled in among the sand hills is as difficult as it is beautiful. And there is no letdown from there. I urge anyone who can to make arrangements to play Prarie Dunes. It's an American golf treasure.
