Review:

Whilst I agree with almost everything the previous reviewers have said about Quinta de Ria, unfortunately in the last few years there has been a massive resort development built adjacent to the course. We first played here in 2006 and it was a lovely unspoilt part of the Algarve. Commercial pressures have clearly taken hold. We were unlucky enough to play on a day when there'd been a Lufthanse competition in the morning and it was wall to wall 4 balls. Things were quieter by the time we got to the back 9, but we'd already taken the best part of 3 hours to play the front. That said the course seems to stand up to all the traffic well. The layout is interesting and the greens, fairways and tee boxes are all in pretty good condition. When the wind blows it's a real challenge. The practice areas also deserves a mention - very good but pricy at 3.50 euros for 35 balls. Just a shame about the monster development next door
