Quixote Club

In the heart of Sumter, a historic golf course is experiencing a remarkable transformation. The Sunset Country Club, one of the oldest golf courses in the Santee region, was acquired in December 2019 by investors Greg and Lewis Thompson, marking the beginning of a new era for the local landmark.

Designed by renowned golf course architects Kris Spence of Spence Golf Design and Jack Nicklaus II of Nicklaus Design, the course is a masterpiece of strategic landscaping. Spanning 169 acres, the 6,800-yard par 70 course is a testament to thoughtful golf course architecture.

The landscape is characterised by majestic red oaks, creating a stunning backdrop for play. Strategically placed bunkers and carefully designed landing areas challenge golfers to approach each shot. Wide fairways and long vistas invite aggressive tee shots, while complex green surfaces demand exceptional short-game skills.

Course Features:

  • 169 acres of meticulously designed terrain
  • 6,800-yard par 70 layout
  • Strategically placed bunkers and landing areas
  • Oak trees are used to create natural obstacles
  • Designed to provide firm and fast playing conditions
