Radium (Springs)

The Radium Resort is located about a three-hour drive west of Calgary. Racquet sport enthusiasts are catered for here with tennis and squash courts, but if water is the preferred choice for recreation then there’s plenty of it too with a swimming pool, hot tub and whirl pool. Golfers can select to play either or both of the two 18-hole golf courses, the Springs and the Resort.

Radium Resort is also home to the Academy at the Springs course, providing a variety of golf schools and instruction programs. The academy has one of the best practice facilities in western Canada with a 350-yard driving range, practice bunkers and short game facility.

The Springs championship course was designed by renowned architect Les Furber and opened in 1988. It is still one of the premier golf destinations in the Columbia Valley. Located on a plateau above the banks of the Columbia River beside a sheer cliff face, the course flows with the contours of the landscape and sets the standard for excellence among other courses in the area.

With four tees at every hole, the Radium Springs course offers a true test of golf for players of all abilities and the layout can measure between 5,163 and 6,767 yards, presenting challenges for both the scratch golfer and the high handicapper. Generous water hazards, strategically placed trees and more than seventy bunkers will have to be negotiated during a round. The biggest threat to a good score is the sensational panorama of the Rocky Mountains which puts your concentration under continual pressure.
