Reserve at Pawleys Island
In a region where desire for both golf and residency is high, The Reserve at Pawleys Island is fortunate to occupy a parcel where the golf course can roam freely around the wetlands without coming into contact with the associated residential neighborhoods. It is one of only two Greg Norman designs in the region surrounding Myrtle Beach, one of the most golf-dense areas in the world (the other is his course at the Barefoot Resort).
The course’s aesthetic is dominated by a combination of sandy waste areas and official bunkers, which Norman occasionally brings into contact with each other (make sure you have a rules official on hand if you’re not sure whether you can ground your club or not).
Considering the angle at which to challenge these hazards will be the biggest determinant of both how long the course plays, and how high one’s scorecard tallies up. From the tips, The Reserve plays to more than 7,200 yards. A decent number of these yards can be found at the property’s two longest par fives, which play at 615 and 605 yards, respectively. The latter will be your final challenge before arriving back at the clubhouse.
