Retamares

Club de Golf Retamares was founded in 1993, with an 18-hole layout designed by José María Olazábal. Starting in 2007, the course staged three consecutive editions of the Madrid Ladies Masters on the LET circuit to demonstrate its tournament-hosting credentials.

Located around 45 kilometres northwest of Madrid city centre, the course at Retamares was designed by José María Olazábal and unveiled in 1993, hosting a few LET events early in the new millennium.

Fairways are laid out in hilly terrain around several big irrigation ponds, with two sets of nine holes returning to the clubhouse.

Highlights on the front nine include the first of the par three holes at the 141-metre 2nd, along with back-to-back downhill par fours at #5 and #6 in the southeast corner of the property.

On the inward half, the 411-metre 14th is a tough par four (rated stroke index 3 from the back tees) which doglegs left and downhill with water to the right of the fairway.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
