Review for The Rise

Reviewer Score:

Was a decent course when it first opened. So much potential with a few small changes required. The course went many years without proper upkeep and that is starting to show. The bunkers can only be described as horrible...a hard layer of base sand just above clay, basically have to build your own lie. Recent management has made changes that have pushed the course towards a mid length technical golf course. No doubt the view are spectacular...I can only image that's where 90% of the good reviews come from. Tourist golfers who aren't serious about a strong golf course. The course now plays at par 38-34 with back to back par 5s (the second just over 400 yrds) to start, a driveable 230yrd hole (just an old par three) and what can only be described as the worst finishing hole in the Okanagan, maybe BC. A 180 massive downhill par 3 to a "peninsula" shaped green with death all around. Blind tee shots everywhere with lateral hazards lining both sides and behind every green. The middle tees now play 5800 yds. Based on many conversations with locals they are trying to capture the tourist golfer because many locals don't play here anymore. A new clubhouse is suppose to be built soon, however that has been a story for many years, and unfortunately that wont save the golf course from future bad reviews. Plenty of other much much better golf courses for less money within 30min. It appears its not far off from ranking very last on this site, and that's where it should rank on your list of courses to play.
