River Club
The river in question at the River Club is the Chattahoochee River, which flows down from Lake Lanier to Atlanta in the north of Georgia. Greg Norman used the property, perched well above the scenic waterway, along the back stretch to provide impressive views to players on this 7,200-yard course.
Although the course may take its name from the largest body of water in view, players will contest with a number of other bodies throughout the round. One such example is No. 17, an island par three that, while facing out toward the Chattahoochee, is surrounded by a marshy pond for those who lose focus on the task at hand.
Although the club sits within one of the nicer developments in suburban Atlanta, housing will rarely make appearances throughout the round, kept from distracting players by a wall of trees. The pines and pristine white sand found in the bunkers may evoke thoughts of another golf course located in the north of Georgia, a little farther east.
