Rocas de Santo Domingo (Roja & Azul)
Club de Golf Rocas de Santo Domingo was formed in the early 1940s and its founding members established a course in wooded terrain near the mouth of the River Maipo, next to the charming little seaside resort of Santo Domingo.
Committee member Alex MacDonald oversaw the construction of the original 18-hole course and this layout served the membership for over half a century until an additional 9-hole circuit – the 3,303-yard Blanca nine – was built on the east side of the property in 1997.
Fairways are generally pretty tight on the Roja nine, especially on the 425-yard 5th, a right doglegged par four that’s rated the most difficult hole on that circuit. The Azul nine is rather more forgiving and its 195-yard 8th hole, where the green sits behind a large lake, is the most picturesque on the scorecard.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
