Rock Creek Resort
The Rock Creek Resort is hardly a tourist destination but rather an expansive planned community near the Texas-Oklahoma border. The total property measures more than 1,300 yards and — while Nicklaus Design was not able to jaunt across all of it — it does ensure that the majority of the course remains free from housing.
Unfortunately for players, the primary instance where residents may watch them play occurs as they tee off on No. 13, a 225-yard par three requiring a forced carry. Good luck!
Despite that stiff test, the course is not a backbreaker, but still offers a challenge for low handicappers, as the longest yardage stretches just past 7,000. Accuracy is a must from the tees, as many of the holes are lined with old-growth forest. Measuring distance from the tee and upon approach should not be forgotten however, as the Nicklaus Design team relies heavily upon centerline bunkers to force second thoughts.
One hole that features no bunkers whatsoever is No. 4, a 330-yard par four that urges to test the tree line on the right in order for a chance at eagle.
