Royal Ashdown Forest (Old) has just sneaked into the GB&I Top 100.

An course with a good story - which is let down by uneven presentation, awkward routing, and a reputation that’s outpacing the product.

Great golf course providing excellent value and access for anyone!

Royal Ashdown Forest (Old) offered up a delightful wander across the undulating and expansive heathland terrain, a step back in time, playing a design that changed little in over 100 years.

Royal Ashdown Forest offered an enjoyable day out and a solid test of golf, but ultimately, it didn’t quite resonate with me in the way I had hoped.

No bunkers, no tricks, no let-up—just a fabulous and beautiful challenge.

Third course in a week playing golf in the heathland course in the London area and the one I knew least about but what I did know was that the course had no bunkers so was not to hopeful when I set out and my low expectations seemed to be confirmed on initial impressions with 1^st and 18^th crossing over and no real sense of excitement at this point.

Having played Royal Ashdown and Crowborough on consecutive days, in my view there is no contest - this is head and shoulders above.

Some courses and clubs just make you smile.

Not sure how it's a Top 100 course.
