Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club (JH Taylor)

Tucked into Richmond’s Old Deer Park, bordered by Kew Gardens and running parallel to the River Thames, the club manages to feel cut off from the London buzz.

So it’s a nice day out but not one for a detour or a bucket list.

Nestled in the heart of West London, the JH Taylor Course is an accessible and welcoming gem for any golfer.

Thoroughly decent golf course.

Royal mid Surrey feels like a lovely green oasis amongst the concrete of London.

What can seem a slightly unspectacular layout on a flat Deer Park, RMS is a surprisingly fun day out.

Taking an Uber to RMS directly from Heathrow ironically meant I was indirectly contributing to one of the criticisms thrown at this course.

Less than 10 miles from Buckingham Palace and close to Kew Gardens, Royal Mid-Surrey occupies an historic piece of Crown property.

Flat, fairly uninspiring golf course.

The JH Taylor golf course at Royal Mid Surrey makes the best use of its pancake flat property and with 18 new USGA specification green complexes now in play there is plenty of interest at this thriving venue located just 20 minutes from Central London.
