Royal Oaks Country Club - Dallas

The layout at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas was carved from a densely wooded landscape in 1969 by Texan PGA Professional, Billy Martindale. Today, the golf course is just one of several sporting amenities at an impressive recreational facility.

Laid out on the floodplain of White Rock Creek, the course was upgraded by Jay Morrish in 1985 then subsequently renovated by Weibring-Wolfard Golf Design in the new millennium. Royal Oaks was also the home club of US Amateur and Open champion Justin Leonard before he joined the payed ranks as a professional.

Some of the most demanding holes in the area are found here, including the signature 475-yard, par four 13th. The fairway doglegs around White Rock Creek, with a tee shot over water followed by a mammoth approach shot that must carry the creek again. Most golfers will play this as a par five and be happy to mark a “5” on their card.
