Royal Portrush Golf Club (Valley)

The Harry Colt design currently undergoing a huge renovation, that is nothing short of spectacular.

Portrush second course to the Dunluce but still a very good course.

After a windy demanding morning round at The Dunluce Course and a short coffee at the great Club House we walked to the first tee to add my 458th course chasing the 500 which would hopefully come in 2023.

In all my visits to Ireland and to Portrush over the years I had never taken the opportunity to play the Valley Course.

The Valley course, whilst connected to the Royal Portrush Golf Club, is more closely associated with both the Ladies Club and Rathmore Golf Club, home to GMac, he of Pebble Beach US Open fame.

The Valley is a solid course with a few highlights, particularly I thought its new holes.

I am suprirsed that this course isn't regarded more favourably, it lacks the prestige of the Dunluce and nearby Port Stewart Strand.

Royal Portrush Valley is a cracking course in own right and the layout and conditioning exceeded expectations.

It blows my mind how people can play the Dunluce and miss out the Valley course.

Royal Portrush can also boast a second course and a very fine one The Valley Links is too.
