Review for Royal St David's

Played this course during the Easter bank holiday, got to play in the 'Easter Bowl'. First time ever playing golf in Wales and what a fantastic course to begin with.

The Practice facilities are fantastic, the range is very nice, putting green matches the course and it has a great little chipping area. Also the food in the bar is great and i would definitely recommend the full English breakfast before your round!!

In terms of the course the front is a bit more flat with great views of Harlech castle and also Snowdon. I guess the front 9 is classed as the easier of the 2 but is still very tough, first hole eases you in nicely with a pretty straightforward tee-shot and a big green. 2nd is a shorter par 4, you need to be careful to not run out of fairway on the other side and the shot into the green is fairly tough as anything long is pretty much dead. Some other feature holes on the front 9 are the 7th which is a long par 5 playing into the wind, tough but looks amazing(I MADE BIRDIE!!) And the 9th, a par 3 at the back of the course demands an accurate shot and the a good two putt as the green isn't easy.

Then we get onto the back 9, which is play through the dunes and is a lot tougher. 10 is a long par 4 usually playing into wind, hitting this green in 2 is a great feeling! One of my favourite holes, 130odd yard par 3, requires such a precise iron shot as you can only see the top of the flag(MADE ANOTHER BIRDIE)!! The 15th is the feature hole, playing through the dunes, such a great hole! Another good one is the 16th, if you go stand on the blue tees you can see the sea. The tea shot requires a good carry over loads of rough and if you catch your driver well, you can get down near the green. The backdrop of this hole is a massive abandoned tower and a weird abandoned hotel. They look like something straight out of Chernobyl. Some will probably see they're an eyesore but i think it makes the course even more unique. The last is a long tough par 3, with the green right outside the club house, a great but hard finishing hole, a par here is a great score.

I shot 3 over my handicap which i was fairly happy with as my scorecard included a triple! I would definitely recommend this course as it's great value for money and the views a unreal!

The condition of the course was brilliant, the fairways were still a tad damaged from the summer last year but didn't affect anything too much, bunkers were fantastic and the greens were some of the best i have played on.
