It's without doubt the most spectacular setting for a golf course I've ever played and the course is a superb test. Castell Harlech looms large over several holes and on a number of occasions you're actually aiming at it, not often you get to experience aiming at a medieval castle for your tee shot!...

I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found here and have to say i absolutely loved the course.

It has many challenging par 4’s with superbly placed bunkers requiring careful shot selection off the tee. It is wide enough to be fair although serious wides can cause lost balls in the heavy rough. The green complexes mostly relatively small requiring good approaches or good chipping to score well...

It still is a very good course-probably the 3rd or 4th best in Wales (to me). This is a real links course. The fairways are firm and fast, you can use the ground game in approaches and you can putt or bump/run or fly it off of the greens. The greens have a variety of contour and are not at all flat-...

Adding the caveat that I haven't played Aberdovey, I can't see how this isn't the 2nd best course in Wales and arguably higher ranked within GB&I.

Maybe it's because of the difficulty because Harlech is HARD. From the white tees which we played there was only 4 par 4s under 400 yards and only 1 on the back 9. Although the conditions were really firm and fast which helped with the distance, it brought its own set of problems, namely how to stop...
