One night in the Dormy and two rounds of golf.

The setting is fantastic, they must have some extra water as the fairways had a springy feel even if they looked a little parched. The tees were good, and the semi rough was short and playable. The rough is a big danger on this course, it is in play on many holes. There are holes where you have a forced carry over rough and plenty where it is on the edge of the hole. The greens looked patchy, they rolled a bit slower than would be expected for a links. The bunkers looked great but were tough to extricate yourself from. This is a course of two halves with the front on flat links land and the back nine in amongst the dunes.

The first is a straight hole of 429 yards to a large green. The second comes back to a smaller green. The third is a tough hole with OOB up the right and a green protected by bunkers. Then you cross the road to the fourth which is a 180 yard par three, there are bunkers at the front and rough at the back. The 7th and 8th are par fives going in opposite directions. The 9th is a par three of 166 yards (we played it straight into the wind and it was playing over 200 yards).

The 10th has a long carry off the tee to clear the rough, then a naughty bunker where many players would be looking to land their second shot. The 11th is the shortest of the par threes with a small green and trouble all around it. Back across the road for the remainder of the course, the 12th is from a raised tee avoiding the rough on the right and bunkers on the left. The 14th is a brute of a par three over 200 yards (into the wind this is unreachable for many players). The 15th is in the dunes, you played from a raised tee over rough and dunes to an angled fairway, the lay up requires precision as the fairway is pinched in. The 16th is another raised tee but you still can't see much of the fairway, this is another hole well protected by some deep bunkers. Surprisingly the 17th is not off a raised tee as the land looks like it could accommodate this tweak, there is OOB on the right and bunkers on the left. The last hole is a par three of 188 yards, it is a large green but there is deep rough just through the back
