There’s little more to be said about this outstanding course that’s not already been covered. I do, however, have some observations on the routing. The two loops with holes running in every conceivable direction is, indeed, ingenious, the beneficiary of having 500 acres of land to work with. But I was less than enamored with one aspect not usually found on links courses: that a number of holes, e.g. 3-6, 9-10, are largely hidden from the rest of the course, providing a bit of a cramped sensation more akin to a Florida course bordered by real estate. The isolation also interfered with my immediate recollection of some holes without looking at the course map.
Oh, and pay no attention to the club’s stated requirement for a handicap index of 18.4 or less. Players group that held us up could not possibly have met that standard.

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
