15 time open championship course and steeped in history. Played it on a calm and warm day and still a stern challenge off the medal tees which required regular sunday best carry just to reach the fairways. What all the tv coverage doesn’t show is just how much elevation change there is. The course itself was in excellent condition - lovely springy links turf, bunkers everywhere often with catchment slopes which triple their size and huge sloping greens but often tiny areas to land on or else swallowed up by run off areas or left with impossible putts. A true test. Massively expensive to play but one to experience and tick off the bucket list

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
