Royal Wimbledon Golf Club

Just wonderful.

Royal Wimbledon is not a top priority for visitors coming to the London area to play the many best in the world or best courses in England.

Right from the time you arrive you can feel you're in for a special day at Royal Wimbledon.

Sometimes you walk onto a golf course and it just feels right, this is one of those courses a really old (3rd oldest in England) Heathland course which feels im sure not hugely different to when it was opened, it has a rustic charm and the attention to detail on the bunkering, greens and paths show everyone here seems to care, there is not a bad hole on the course, yes its not the longest but doesnt need to be, it has an amazing mix of holes fron a 250 yard uphill par 4 to a 450 yard par 4, yes Wimbledon Common is very undulating but not so that it gets annoying, its rolls and enchants you as you go around, the course was in reasonable condition given the lack of Rain and greens were excellent, all the par 3,s are memorable holes and the area after the 1st,5th,and 12th is a real hub.

I grew up in Wimbledon but this was the first time I have managed to play Royal Wimbledon and I really enjoyed the strategic challenge of the course.

Played the course but as London Scottish (which shares the course and each Club starts from a different hole - bit odd but it seems to work for them) in an Open.

As I pulled into Wimbledon train station with my clubs it was fairly obvious that I wasn’t one of the masses.

‘There is an old-fashioned air about the golf at Wimbledon’.

“It is brilliant that, no matter how busy it becomes, London maintains these wonderful green spaces.

I'd been wanting to play Royal Wimbledon for a long time, boy did it not disappoint.
