Finally - I've been waiting so long to see Rustic Canyon included in the rankings, it must be the most underrated course in California. Let's start at the club itself - monday to wednesday 37 $ or something like that. It is one of the best values in the WORLD. The course is natural, it is laid on the land and reflects it, highly strategic, the most strategic I've ever played. Every hole presents a new challenge, new options. There is no weak hole, not even an ordinary hole, they're all GREAT from the 1st to the 18th. The short gradd around the greens and the excellent fast&firm condition presented by the greenkeeper and his crew are truly amazing and encourage the ground game. This poses even more options: play the high pitch? the bunmp'n'run, or will you putt it?. The bunkers are eye-candy and the scenery is beatiful. While the 1st nin is pretty tight together, the second nine is a wonderful walk through the magnificent canyon. The routing is excellent. The par-3s are wonderfully varied and each of them is great. The par-4s vary in length and challenge and while all of the par-5s are suberp, 4 of the 5 play uphill in the same direction. Other than that, Rustic Canyon's genious simplicity, naturalness, strategy and scenery make it one of the best new courses around. It is THAT good.
