Saarema Golf & Country Club

Located on the Baltic Sea island of Saaremaa, the 18-hole course at Saaremaa Golf & Country Club was fashioned in 2008 by Lassi Pekka Tilander. The 6,310-metre layout has already staged a number of top Estonian amateur golf tournaments.

The layout’s arranged as two returning nines, with water hazards coming into play at more than half the holes on the card, threatening either the tee shot or approach to the green. Built to USGA standards, the layout is capable of hosting elite amateur and professional tournaments, though it’s still capable of providing more of a fun round for less proficient players.

Highlight holes include the first of the four par threes at the 120-metre 5th; the left doglegging par four 8th (stroke index 1); the shortest of the four par fives at the 494-metre 12th (where water protects the left of the green); and the tough par four closing hole (stroke index 2) which plays round the opposite side of a lake from the 9th , with a large bunker separating the greens on these two holes.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
