One of the younger facilities in the Stockholm area, Salems Golfklubb was founded in 1988 but it would take seven years before the first nine holes were ready for play at Högantorp farm. By 1996 the club had expanded to 18 holes and a further nine (Högantorps) was added in 2003.
Today, the main Salemsbanen course measures just over 6,000 metres from the rear tees, playing to a par of 71, with holes arranged as two returning nines. Water hazards dictate the playing strategy on several holes, most notably between the parallel fairways on #6 and #8, then on the par fours at #15 and #18.
Highlight holes include the par five 1st (where a small pond guards the front left of the green); the right doglegging par four 9th (which is eminently birdieable if you avoid the many greenside sand traps); and the tough 335-metre closing hole with a lake to the right of the fairway and fountained ponds lurking left and to the rear of the home green.
