Originally set out as a 9-hole track by Frank Spalding in 1933, the course at Sallandsche Golfclub on the 'de Hoek' estate was eventually extended to an 18-hole layout by Donald Steel sixty years later.

Today, the course extends to just over 6,000 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, where holes are arranged as two returning nines, each of which ends with a par three close to the clubhouse.

Highlight holes include the right doglegging par five 4th, rated stroke index 1, and the shortest of the four par threes on the scorecard at the 130-metre 9th, with a couple of large bunkers guarding the front right of the green.

On the back nine, a pond separates the fairways on the 15th and 16th, located in the more open east side of the property. Sand protects the front left of the home green on the 18th so the smart play is to err on the right side with the tee shot.

Frank Pont carried out a bunker renovation on the course between 2012 and 2015.
