Today, the course extends to just over 6,000 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72, where holes are arranged as two returning nines, each of which ends with a par three close to the clubhouse.
Highlight holes include the right doglegging par five 4th, rated stroke index 1, and the shortest of the four par threes on the scorecard at the 130-metre 9th, with a couple of large bunkers guarding the front right of the green.
On the back nine, a pond separates the fairways on the 15th and 16th, located in the more open east side of the property. Sand protects the front left of the home green on the 18th so the smart play is to err on the right side with the tee shot.
Frank Pont carried out a bunker renovation on the course between 2012 and 2015.
World Top 100 Golf Courses
The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
