Salta Polo Club was formed in 1925 but golf at the club didn’t happen until 1955, with the opening of a basic, 3-hole course. Twenty years later, a member of the Jockey Club named Tomás Sanderson extended the layout to eighteen holes.
Salta is one of the nicest cities in Argentina with 2 golf courses there, Salta Polo and The Jockey, adding fantastic Estancia el Cafayate just 2hs by car. Going there for a Tourist Visit could add quite a nice Golf Tour if playing all three courses.
I was lucky to play it some years ago and now the Club decided to do an upgrade so they hired local architect Frankie Bunge (Estancia La Paz) and he is doing some significant improvements in some green complexes, tee boxes location and tree management to make it quite a better one.
Located just outside the City and being also a Polo Club, with this upgrade it will certainly attract many new golfers and it is worth do take a plane from BsAs to mix some very nice sightseeing together with very good golf.
