Saltford
Located halfway between Bristol and Bath, the course at Saltford was brought into play in 1904, with Harry Vardon advising on improvements to the layout within a year of it opening.
Club professional Leslie Mouland carried out a number of modifications in the 1960s then five new holes (2, 3, 7, 10 and 17) and four new greens (1, 4, 5 and 18) were introduced during the 1990s.
Today, the course measures 6,402 yards from the back markers, playing to a par of 71. The back nine is considerably shorter than the front nine, thanks mainly to there being only one par five on the inward half.
Feature holes include the long, uphill par four 6th, which is played to a small, multi-tiered green; the downhill short par four 15th with a steep fall off behind the green; and the signature hole 17th, a drop shot par three that’s protected by a little lake in front of the green.
