Sandhurst (Champions)

Sandhurst Club is home to the PGA of Australia - which has relocated its national headquarters here in 2007 - as well as the two Peter Thomson-designed 18-hole golf courses are within one of Victoria's largest contemporary residential developments.

While the housing component in the course is greater on the Champions layout however, this is offset by the course's more undulating area than its counterpart which results in a greater selection of holes.

An old Red River Gum trees often border fairways. And, for those who love in the race, huge open-fronted greens are present.

Each hole is dedicated the former Australian PGA Champion and there's an honorary plaque on every hole with a brief background of the golfer in question.

There are a couple of par threes that are truly standout holes on The Champions course. The 198-yard 6th hole is named in honor of Frank Phillips and it's set within a few ancient Red Gums, with the tee shot played over water from tee-to-green. The back nine is it's the "Norman of Nida" 11th hole is the shortest hole. It's which is played uphill, leading towards a narrow, long green that is surrounded by a sandy waste area.
