Located in former gold mining and fur trading territory to the east of Vancouver, within “The Great Outside” as it’s marketed these days, the Sandpiper course is a Russ Olsen design that lies on the northern shores of the mighty Fraser River.

Fairways were carved through woodland on a relatively flat property with many of these doglegged holes designed to take advantage of the impressive mountain and river views and it truly is a spectacular place to play golf.

The course boasts a fine set of par threes – at holes 3, 7, 12 and 16 – that vary in length between 127 yards and 222 yards, though the best hole on the card is considered to be the 486-yard par 15th, where a creek bisects the fairway and the putting surface is protected by more water to the front left and back right of the green.

if ever there was a hidden gem this was it. Absolutely fantastic. Imagine Woburn, with mountains all around and three or fourl holes played around a beautiful lkae. Some of the trees were magnificent and all 50 GBP !! Only gripe was that it obviously suffers with sever drainage problems but that aside could not be faulted..

Sandpiper Golf Resort is set in an area of absolutely outstanding beauty. With tree-lined fairways and huge Fraser River barrelling its way past the 15th 17th and 18th holes make for the perfect backdrop. The fairways, greens and manicuring in general are just perfect, and it has a huge practice area too, worthy of hosting a competition here and also great rates for non-members.

As a Ice hockey player does in post season, I play lots of golf, I have played many in BC and rate this just the finest, the wildlife the scenery, the clubhouse the food, the greens the creeks all just make this a wonderful round.
