Santa Ponsa (2)

The public No.1 course at Golf Santa Ponsa attracts all the tourist traffic but only a 10-minute drive away, close to the marina at Port Adriano, lies the No. 2 course, designed by José Gancedo and opened for private play in 1991.

The course extends to 6,053 metres from the back tees, playing to a par of 72. The front nine holes (and first four on the back nine) are laid out across densely wooded terrain before the remaining holes are played out around a large lake.

The highlight holes on this layout are all located within the front nine: the 350-metre 1st enters the forest then turns sharply left to the green; the 418-metre 5th swings right off the tee towards the target; and the 160-metre 7th plays through a narrow chute from tee to green.

Santa Ponsa staged seven of the eight editions of the now defunct Mallorca Open de Baleares that were played between 1988 and 1995. The No. 1 course hosted six of these events but the final one was claimed by Greg Turner on the No.2 course.

World Top 100 Golf Courses

The latest ranking of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World serves as the ultimate global golf bucket list. Most members of our World Top 100 Panel are seasoned golfers, each playing 20-30 of these courses annually while travelling extensively over decades to form their opinions on others. We recognise that opinions vary—even among our panel members. Rankings are subjective, and there are undoubtedly 50 or more courses in the UK and USA alone that could easily fit onto this list.
