Review for Santander

Reviewer Score:

Santander is a very modern golf course and perhaps may not suit everyone's eye test.I enjoyed it but I do understand some of the comments about the design. Some parts of the course reminded me of a couple of the Quinta do Largo courses in Portugal. It is certainly an excellent test of golf. Mid November in Madrid and the condition of the course was superb with fairways and bunkers in great shape. The greens were extremely quick and coming from England it took a few holes to find the pace. This course is long and as others have noted it rewards straight driving, water, trees and well placed bunkers are waiting for errant tee shots. Despite this our group really felt able to open their shoulders on many holes as most holes look very inviting standing on the tee.

I played with a member/shareholder and the cost was approx £50 with electric trolley, very good value in Spain. This course features some great views of the mountains that ring the city and also a luxurious club house and terraces to enjoy on the completion of a loverly afternoons golf. If you get the chance to play, take it.
